Best bar in Dalston, East London, Hackney

Gio One Stop

August 10, 2017

Gio One Stop brings you the real Jamaican vintage experience.

Spinning strictly vinyl from the golden era of Jamaican music with a dash of Soul, you can hear him alongside selected guests at his monthly night on the second Sunday of each month at the Ridley Road Market Bar.

Ahead of his August event, and in the lead up to Hackney One Carnival where you can always catch Gio One Stop playing, we caught up and talked Carnivals, Gladdy Wax and Kyoto.

Describe your style in three words

Sweet Reggae Music (You can never refuse it!)

Where else have you played/where do you dream of playing?

I’ve played in many places in London over the years: The Alibi, Ace Hotel, Brilliant Corners, The Haggerston, The Social to name a few.

The dream gig would be at Notting Hill Carnival on Gladdy Wax’s Sound.

Favourite record store in London?

Eldica in Bradbury Street not just for the records but also for the sense of community that you can feel as soon as you enter the shop.

Favourite record store in the universe?

Black Ark in Kyoto for the quantity and quality of records.

The track that never fails you?

Anything from Studio 1.
